WARNING: Spoilers for the Wilds season 2 below
The Wilds season two landed on Amazon Prime Video last week and followed dual storylines of the girls and boys on separate islands as they battle to be rescued after different plane crashes.
The latest batch of episodes introduced us to a new group of survivors, this time all boys, who found themselves stuck on a mysterious island and forced to get a grip on their new surroundings before it’s too late.
In the finale episode, the girls from season one – made up of Sarah Pidgeon (Leah), Sophia Ali (Fatin), Shelby (Mia Healey), Toni (Erana James), Jenna Clause (Martha), Shannon Berry (Dot), Reign Edwards (Rachel) – thought their luck had changed as they were rescued by a helicopter.
While, after a tough few weeks on another island, the new boys – Zack Calderon (Raf), Aidan Laprete (Henry), Nicholas Coombe (Josh), Charles Alexander (Kirin), Miles Gutierrez-Riley (Ivan), Reed Shannon (Scotty), Tanner Ray (Bo) and Alex Fitzalan (Seth) – were also captured.
However, it wasn’t quite as simple as being rescued as there were more twists and turns for the teenagers to be thrown into, with Leah going up against experiment leader Gretchen Klein, played by Rachel Griffiths, in a bid for freedom.
In the final moments, they realized that those who had been questioning them had disappeared without a trace, while they were stuck in a bizarre building with no clue on what to do next, as Gretchen cryptically informed her colleagues that the next stage of the experiment had begun.
Spilling the beans on what we could see next, Sarah couldn’t help but rave about the nail-biting conclusion to the series.
‘The cliffhangers are so good,’ she praised. ‘It was a thrill ride every single time we got those scripts in our inbox. There’s just so many unexpected twists and turns and new challenges.’
Proving to be as relatable as her character, Sophia admitted that she was ‘shocked’ over how the finale ended, admitting that’s she still has no clue what exactly it means, or what could be in store for her gang.
Honestly, hard same.
‘I want to see everyone progress farther than what they already have, and I feel like coming back together and making it more normal to society is almost going to reverse everyone for a second and they’re all going to go back to who they used to be and not really know how to act with survival at the forefront in that environment with men around now,’ she continued to People Magazine on how her character will adjust to having a new group of guys around – who have come with their own issues.
‘Then there’s going to have to be an adjustment period to be like, “Okay, now we’ve got to survive like we used to and then we have to escape. It’s like more barriers.’
‘I think we’ve made something really, really beautiful,’ Raf actor Zack added. And in terms of what to do for season three, only time will tell. But if it’s anything like season two, we’re in for a big old surprise.’
While season three has not yet been confirmed, we’re already on the edge of our seats for all the action.
The Wilds is available to stream now on Amazon Prime Video.
