When one contestant on The Wheel was asked to answer a question on the age of the world, viewers cringed.
Everything had been going so well for Jonathan, who had made it to the final and was about to walk away with a staggering £76,000.
There was just one question standing between him and the massive cash reward, and comedian and podcaster Rosie Ramsey was there to help.
Jonathan had a hard time choosing between three categories: celebrities, wine, and planet Earth, but it was the one he ended up with.
The £76k question was, in fact, ‘Approximately how old is planet Earth?’, which perplexed both Jonathan and expert Rosie.
Jonathan was undecided between 4.5 million, 45 million, 450 million, and 4.5 billion as viable replies.
The answer is, of course, 4.5 billion, which Jonathan and Rosie ruled out very immediately.
‘I don’t think it’s billion,’ he said when their 30-second discussion time began.
Rosie then asked how long ago dinosaurs existed, which helped them arrive at an inaccurate answer.
‘It’s not billion, I don’t think it’s 450million either,’ the chaotic pair ruled out.
Jonathan and Rosie agreed on 45 million, which devastated him when the answer popped up red, but he conceded he’d never receive it.
Still, the moment made viewers giggle, with one individual tweeting, ‘Imagine believing the world is 45 million years ROFL #thewheel basic stuff’.
Another perplexed viewer wrote: ’45 million, no! Earth isn’t that new’.
Another inquired whether the couple ‘went to school’, calling it ‘basic plain information’.
There were those on Jonathan’s side who were disappointed that the ‘entertaining’ participant did not win the money.
‘Someone give Jonathan his money!’, one exclaimed.
‘Awwww I’m so sad for Jonathan’, cried another.
And it wasn’t the first time Jonathan captured the hearts of the country, as he also professed his affection for a famous TV show.
When asked at the start of the programme what he planned to do with his prize money, the receptionist and volunteer dog walker didn’t hesitate.
’I’d definitely love to fly first class to Australia to go and protest outside the building to bring back Neighbours. I’m the biggest Neighbours fan and I’ve got a Neighbours tattoo on my chest! I’ve got “Ramsay Street“,’ he said.
‘So, you want to go to Ramsay Street?’, host and comedian Michael McIntyre asked.
‘Yeah, I’ve been there seven times already,’ Jonathan revealed to a stunned Michael.
‘I’m the biggest Neighbours fan in the whole world.’
‘It’s amazing, it’s like my Mecca. I just feel so at home there.’
But, it wasn’t to be, as another competitor, Fawziyah, swooped in and won a very good £38,000, which will go towards her wedding.
The Wheel airs Saturdays on BBC One.
