One contestant on The Wheel astonished fans when he won a massive prize package worth £92,000.
The game show, presented by Michael McIntyre, debuted in 2020 during the pandemic, with seven celebrities tasked with assisting participants in answering a series of questions while they all sit on a wheel that revolves around to match them up at random.
During Saturday’s episode, Good Morning Britain’s Richard Madeley and This Morning’s Josie Gibson were on hand to help the candidates win.
However, competitor Colin picked Richard to assist him with the last question.
‘According to the Natural History Museum, which of these dinosaurs would have been the heaviest?’ host and comic Michael McIntyre read out.
Fortunately, Colin responded confidently, ‘Diplodocus,’ and was overjoyed when he learned he had won the prize.
Colin raced round the studio and hugging the celebrities including Jay Blades, Mollie King.
Wiping away tears, he said: ‘(It means) everything – cost of living, security, comfort.
‘Sensible things, paying off some bills and things like that; home improvements. It’s massive memories I can make with my son and my family – amazing.’
When asked how he planned to spend the money before the last question, Colin said he planned to buy a campervan.
He also said: ‘I’m involved with a charity that supports the Dwarf Sports Association so I would be able to donate some to help myself, my son and others – parents and families that have and are affected by dwarfism.’
Teasing some details of the upcoming season, host Michael recently shared that this time around fans would witness ‘a wheel of the stupidest experts we’ve ever had’.
‘Watch out for this one because none of them got a single question right,’ he laughed.
‘You know the format is when you get a question wrong you get shut down for the next bit…it happens every single time.’
Michael claimed that the concept for the programme occurred to him when he was taking a bath back in 2020.
‘I was thinking for a while about the evolution of entertainment television. There’s been so many talent shows. I just thought there hasn’t been any brand new formats for game shows and quiz shows, he said.
‘They’re so well loved and they always do so well when people revive old formats.’
The Wheel returns next Saturday at 8:35pm on BBC One.
