Norman Reedus, best known for his portrayal of Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead, has been injured in an accident while filming, it has been reported.

The news came from Fandemic Tour, described as a ‘new kind of comic convention’, which is due to take place from Friday March 18 to Sunday March 20 in Atlanta, Georgia.

In a statement shared on Instagram, the event announced that Norman, 53, had to postpone an appearance, which would have seen him take part in photo ops with fans.

The message, which also addressed the absence of Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter, read: ‘Due to unforeseen circumstances Nick Carter had to postpone due to scheduling conflicts, and Norman Reedus had to postpone due to an accident while filming.

‘We are sending all of our thoughts and positive energy to Norman Reedus. Everyone in our amazing community knows how much he loves his fans, and he wants you to know how terrible he feels about the situation.

‘However, we all want him to do what is best for his health. Let’s send him all of our well-wishes and hope for a speedy recovery.’

The event organisers added that if attendees purchased products related to Norman or Nick’s appearances, they would receive ‘instructions on how to swap or refund options to the email used to purchase’.

Norman is yet to publicly address his reported injury online, with his latest Instagram post promoting his debut novel, titled The Ravaged.

The update on the actor didn’t outline what production he was filming when he was reportedly injured, as there is a possibility it could have been the final season of The Walking Dead or the Daryl & Carol spin-off with his co-star Melissa McBride.

Several fans who bought tickets to meet him expressed their concern over his wellbeing, with one commenting on Instagram: ‘I really hope Norman recovers, I’m sending him all the good energies in the world.’

Another wrote: ‘I hope you recover soon, all our support with you, we love you.’

In a new update shared on social media, Fandemic Tour revealed that The Walking Dead star Melissa would still be making an appearance at the event after a ‘conflict scare’.

‘After a brief scheduling conflict scare, we are more than happy to announce that Melissa McBride is STILL scheduled to appear at Fandemic!’ they wrote.

‘Everyone who’s purchased a photo op with her can still expect to practice those poses and get ready to capture such an amazing moment.’
