Who doesn’t love a great pull-on-your-heartstrings rom-com?
The title probably isn’t new to you as The Time Traveler’s Wife was a 2009 film starring Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams.
However, it’s been given a fresh makeover and is now a TV series for a new audience. It follows the same plot, with a few cast updates with the stars being Game of Thrones’ Rosie Leslie and Divergent actor Theo James.

What is the plot of The Time Traveler’s Wife?
It follows Clare Abshire, who ever since she was six years old, has had an imaginary friend: a kind and funny man, sometimes old, sometimes young, who appears in the woods behind her house and tells her tales of the future.
And of course, he’s not just from any future, he’s from her future.
Clare has a literal date with destiny. One day she’s going to meet a young man called Henry DeTamble, whom she’ll know very well but who won’t recognise her at all, but she knows what he will soon figure out, that she is his wife.
Who is joining Rose Leslie in the cast?
You’ll definitely know the series star actress Rose Leslie, who broke our hearts as Ygritte in Game Of Thrones. The actor – who is married to Kit Harington (who played her on-screen romantic interest, Jon Snow) – has also starred in hit shows such as Downton Abbey, Luther, The Good Fight and Vigil – in other words, she’s a pro.
Starring opposite Rose will be fellow former Downton Abbey star Theo James and the two lead the cast as Henry and Clare.
Desmin Borges (You’re the Worst, Living with Yourself) stars as Gomez, Henry and Clare’s friend with Natasha Lopez (Runner Runner, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) as Charisse, Clare’s best friend.
Is The Time Traveler’s Wife based on a book?
The Time Traveler’s Wife is Audrey Niffenegger’s bestselling debut novel, published in 2003, and this source material was the basis of the 2009 movie and its 2022 updated TV series.

The emotional two-and-a-half-minute clip begins with Henry declaring: ‘Time travel: it’s not a superpower. It’s a disability, what’s wrong with me.’
We watch as Henry and Clare (Leslie) attempt to navigate a passionate relationship that only lasts for short moments at a time.
We get snapshots of their relationship – past and present – as Henry travels back to important and traumatic moments of his life. But the distance begins to take its toll. ‘Why is love so intensified by absence?’ ponders a melancholy Clare.
