The’reason’ for Nadiya Bychkova’s lack of a celebrity dance partner on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing has already been revealed.
Despite the fact that the Strictly couples will not be officially unveiled until Saturday’s premiere show, a spoiler website has let the cat out of the bag.
According to the leak, Nadiya has been benched, which surprised fans and former teammate Dan Walker.
‘All the pros are great but gutted to hear that @nadiyabychkova hasn’t got a partner. I’m sure she’s still looking forward to being part of the biggest show on TV but it feels a bit like putting Messi on the bench for the World Cup final! 🤯,’ he wrote.
Since her arrival in 2017, Nadiya, 34, has worked alongside performers Matt Goss, Davood Ghadami, Lee Ryan, and David James. Nadiya has been without a spouse since 2020.
According to reports, the Ukrainian dancer, who is dating fellow pro Kai Widdrington, was left ‘fuming’ by the decision.
The true reason for the rejection has now been disclosed, and it appears to be a combination of age, height, and chemistry.
She would have been taller than many of the male superstars at 5’8″, especially in heels.
‘She would have towered over seven out of the eight male celebrities in the competition,’ explained a TV Insider.
Bobby Brazier, who stands at 6’2, could have been perfect.
They continued to The Sun: ’On the basis of height, it was expected that they would form a duo on this series.
‘But bosses felt there was something odd about the fact that the particularly fresh-faced Bobby only turned 20 this summer, while Nadiya is a mature woman.’
The source added that it’s down to more than an age gap, and instead about appearances: ‘So long as they both have the same boy or girl-next-door look, it works’.
This might explain Bobby’s possible relationship with Dianne Buswell, who is Nadiya’s age. At the National Television Awards, the couple was seen speaking and dancing together, which may signal a partnership.
