An Olympic diver was ‘trembling’ in the latest episode of The Repair Shop, as the experts restored his coveted gold and silver medals to its former glory.
In Wednesday’s edition of the hit BBC show, Yorkshire born diver Jack Laugher brought in his prized possessions from the 2016 Rio Olympics, but after ‘showing them off’ in various schools across the country, he said that children had a tendency to ‘clatter them together.’
‘I’ve had them dropped in front of me quite a few times,’ he said.
‘And they make a really big sound when they drop. The higher points have lost their frosted look, and unfortunately I know what they looked like when I won them, and they don’t look like that anymore.’
Speaking to experts Jay Blades and Steve Fletcher, Jack stressed that he would love to have it framed once they were restored.
Of course, the item was in safe hands, as Steve worked his charm and the medals returned to its shiny form.
Safe to say that Jack, 27, was floored after seeing the final outcome.
‘Oh my God!’ he enthused.
‘I honestly do not have any words for how good they look. They are unbelievable, and the silver was so destroyed before, it’s actually got my heart going, I can’t believe it.
‘I’m actually shaking.’
He continued: ‘These things mean so much to me and my family and my coaches, and now they’re back to how they’re meant to look, that’s why I’m so emotional because I was ashamed of showing in a way.
‘The way they looked made me feel embarrassed, I need to put them back because I’m still trembling.’
Elsewhere, fans were in pieces after husband and wife Barry and Bernadette brought in a musical jewellery box.
After the transformation was revealed Barry consoled his wife as she started sobbing.
‘Oh tonight was not the night to watch #repairshop the couple and their music box, how beautiful Amazing work as always,’ one person wrote.
‘I’m not crying, you’re crying – is anyone else having a little happy sob at their beautiful reaction to that repair? *dries eyes* *blows nose*,’ another added.
The Repair Shop returns next Wednesday at 8pm on BBC One.
