It’s been a stressful week for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby after suspicions of a reported ‘fallout’ surfaced, but according to a body language expert, their friendship may be back on track.
Rumours have surfaced in recent days about the 61-year-old’s alleged ‘fallout’ with co-host Holly Willoughby.
While neither has addressed the problem publicly, with Phil previously stating that the couple are still ‘best friends,’ Holly, 41, is said to be considering leaving This Morning because she is having to cope with the situation.
Following the rumours, Phil has been ‘increasingly distant,’ as supporters worry what the future of This Morning holds.
Holly had to leave the programme early on Wednesday to go to Buckingham Palace, leaving Phillip to present alone.
Fans who were paying attention observed a lot more connection between the two, with Phillip complimenting Holly’s summery dress and Holly hugging and kissing her co-star as she departed.
Judi James, a body language specialist and author, stated that while the couple has had a difficult time, things appear to be returning to normal.
‘Wednesday’s show did contain some clues that this relationship might be getting back to its usual track again and even though those clues were subtle they were also powerful in terms of intentional messaging,’ she told us.
‘When Phil and Holly were doing the gardening section they seemed giggly, as though sharing a private joke. As they bent to speak to their reporter Phil started laughing and speaking but Holly gave him a big nudge in the ribs. A gesture like this would only normally be exchanged by friends. It looked like a ‘behave yourself or I’ll start laughing too’ signal.’
She added: ‘Later the double entendres were flying and Phil referenced a photo Holly had shown him before the show, again wanting to emphasise the fact that they are speaking to each other off-set and sharing a joke or two.
‘It seemed the photo was too rude to share but Phil made a naughty reference that made Holly giggle when she could have faked annoyance or shock had they genuinely been at war with each other.’
According to a source, it is ‘very improbable’ that Phil would return to This Morning in September, rather than Holly.
According to a new source, the broadcaster wants Phil to stand down but he is causing problems for his managers by refusing to do so.
After seeing today’s programme, Judi speculated that things could be looking better for the popular hosts.
She added: ‘Today it’s Holly with the high energy levels but Phil does seem to be the one making the friendship moves, leaning in and using eye contact and signals of approval when she talks and mirroring her poses during the breaks.’
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
