The Morning Show has been renewed for season 3 on Apple TV Plus.
Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon will be back for another innings as Alex Levy and Bradley Jackson following the success of series two, which arrived in September.
There will, however, be a change of hands as showrunner Kerry Ehrin will step down with Fosse/Verdon co-executive producer Charlotte Stoudt taking over.
Reese took to Instagram Stories to celebrate the joyous news. ‘So excited to bring ya’ll a third season of The Morning Show,’ she enthused.
Jennifer’s character Alex anchors The Morning Show, a popular breakfast news program,e broadcast from Manhattan on the UBA network, which has excellent viewership ratings and is perceived to have changed the face of American television.
In the first season, after her on-air partner of 15 years, Mitch Kessler (played by Steve Carell), is fired amidst a sexual misconduct scandal, Alex fights to retain her job as top news anchor while sparking a rivalry with Bradley Jackson, a haphazard field reporter whose series of impulsive decisions brings her into a new world of television journalism.
In season two, Bradley attempts to convince Alex to return as the Covid pandemic gradually engulfs America.
The second chapter of the drama ended in November, with Ehrin teasing where the show could go upon its return.
Teasing potential storylines that could be explored, she hinted there will be a time jump in the next instalment.
Ehrin also added the season could act as a major turning point for Alex.
‘I feel like Alex has come to a place for the first time since the pilot of accepting who she is and facing her worst fears, and I want to see how the phoenix rises from the ashes for her, and learning how to have a full life and be present and loving,’ she said.
