Charlotte Church finished in second place on The Masked Singer 2022, as she wowed us week after week with her performances as Mushroom.

She just narrowly missed out on the title of season 3 champion, with Natalie Imbruglia winning the most votes as Panda, while Westlife’s Mark Feehily finished third as Robobunny.

Following her appearance on the ITV show Charlotte, 35, has shared her love for her costume, as someone who is eco-conscious.

‘I love Mushroom to the core of my soul and I really love the role that Fungi plays on Earth,’ the Welsh singer said.

‘I think that it’s going to be so important in how we fix a lot of the ecological problems that we’re currently facing, including things such as soil degradation.

‘So, to be the representative for the mushroom community felt absolutely brilliant, my heart was fit to burst!’

The opera powerhouse even admitted she’s not ready to say goodbye to her Mushroom mask just yet, saying she’d love to wear it ‘on a children’s climate march’ when asked about wearing it one final time for a special occasion.

In fact, Charlotte took a really hands-on approach to The Masked Singer, as she got involved in the design process of her costume too.

She says her reason for signing up to the show was the get back into singing following time away from the spotlight.

‘I took on the challenge because I liked the idea of the show being entirely centred around the voice, and I haven’t sung in the public eye for quite some time now so it felt like the perfect opportunity,’ she explained.

However, everyone she knows was kept in the dark about her exciting project, even her nearest and dearest.

The mum-of-three went to great lengths to keep her identity under wraps, even lying to her own mother, Maria Cooper.

Charlotte – who has recently been seen on a new building renovation reality show – was a popular guess for many fans throughout the series.

Judge Mo Gilligan was particularly excited when her mask came off, as he felt he had worked out some of her clues early on.
