The Masked Singer has been bamboozling viewers in its first two weeks, and Mushroom has been one of the constants really catching the eye.
The mystery singer delivered a rendition of There Are Worse Things I Could Do from Grease on Saturday – and their latest appearance led some people to guess that it’s Jane Horrocks under the mask.
It comes after the fun-guy debuted with a performance of It’s Oh So Quiet By Bjork last weekend, and shared some information which could prove key.
There has been much speculation online, but now eagle-eyed viewers think they’ve cracked it.
Viewers have found some pretty compelling arguments for Jane, too.
The singer’s northern accent is one of the reasons why viewers are putting her into the mix, with Jane growing up in Lancashire, but there’s one main reason why some are totally convinced.
Mushroom cryptically revealed that her career ‘started out a little bit fizzy’ on Saturday’s episode.
Jane made her name playing Bubble in Absolutely Fabulous, which would be a perfect fit for the clue.
One viewer wrote: Mushroom is definitely Jane Horrocks. Bubbles in Absolutely Fabulous = Fizzy.’
Another added: ‘Mushroom… has to be Jane Horrocks.’
We’ll have to wait until later on in the series to find out who is under the mask for certain, though.
In the meantime, the likes of Jane McDonald and Sarah Lancashire have also been linked with Mushroom.
The third celebrity has been unmasked on The Masked Singer UK, with Lionfish chosen by the judges to leave the competition.
On tonight’s episode of the ITV programme, judges Rita Ora, Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall and Jonathan Ross watched as five of the contestants returned to take to the stage for a second time.
In the end, Lionfish was sent packing, taking off their mask to reveal Will Young underneath.
When asked what made him decide to take part, he responded: ‘I thought the challenge of disguising my voice would be fantastic and also I loved the idea of playing a character!’
While the ‘hiding’ part of the experience was ‘easy’ and made it ‘enjoyable’ for the 42-year-old, he added: ‘I was nervous when I had to take the mask off! It was very interesting to experience.’
The Masked Singer continues on Sunday at 7pm on ITV.
