Comedian Rob Beckett has been winding up fans in recent days claiming on social media he is The Masked Singer UK’s Traffic Cone but has now reportedly received messages from the true culprit.

Traffic Cone is one of the remaining secret celebrities on The Masked Singer, after Poodle was unmasked as Keane’s Tom Chaplin on Saturday night.

However, one person who previously claimed to be appearing on the show is Rob, who’s teased fans through a stream of suspicious tweets in recent days.

However, he has now backed down and denied being behind the mask, writing on Twitter: ’Right so I have a confession. I’m not Traffic Cone. It’s a wind-up.

‘However, it’s got so out of hand the actual Traffic Cone has angrily messaged me telling me to stop saying I’m traffic cone.

‘So for the record, I’m not Traffic Cone. But I now know who is.’

Getting in on the joke himself, Richard Osman responded: ‘Thanks Rob, I appreciate it.’

Morning Live presenter Rav Wilding couldn’t resist a similar comment, writing: ‘Cheers Rob sorry to be a bore mate but didn’t want to ruin it. Thanks again.’

We don’t know who to believe at this point…

Some of Rob’s followers think he’s only digging himself further into a hole, with one responding: ‘That’s what Traffic Cone would say…

A fan cheekily added: ‘Sounds like a diversion tactic, exactly what a traffic cone is known for.’

Another reckoned: ‘This is a bluff within a bluff within a bluff that is bluffing about being a bluff…

Many fans believe Traffic Cone is a comedian after one of their two truths or a lie was: ‘It’s often been said that I’m a stand-up fella.’

But after Rob seemingly ruled himself out, who could it really be behind the mask?
