After Trump’s ex-lawyer Rudy Guiliani was unmasked on The Masked Singer last week, fans think the show has officially hit ‘rock bottom’ with the reveal of Kirstie Alley as Baby Mammoth.
The former Cheers star, 71, lost her place in the competition after receiving the least amount of votes from panelists Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke, Ken Jeong and Jenny McCarthy.
‘I’ve done a lot of things in my career, but I’ve never gotten to be in the circus,’ Kirstie joked as her enormous pink mask came off.
Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole screeched: ‘You were so good!’
Robin even went so far as to call Kirstie’s presence a ‘blessing and an honour’.
But after the actress has ruffled many a feather with her political views, many critics were unimpressed that another divisive figure appeared on the programme.
‘Last week it was Rudy Giuliani and this week it’s Kirstie Alley. Bad people with horrible voices. Good lord #TheMaskedSinger who is next, ? Scott Baio? If you waste 6 filler weeks w bad singers at least get funny or good people,’ complained one viewer which was echoed by another who wrote: ‘Wow…last week The Masked Singer unmasked Rudy Guliani and now this week they unmasked Kirstie Alley. Really scraping the barrel here.’
‘I used to like The Masked Singer,’ said a third. ‘But Giuliani and Kirstie Alley both in the same season? Who the f**k is next? DeSantis??? This has become a Republican s**t show.’
One more fumed: ‘Kirstie Alley was revealed as Baby Mammoth, the week right after Rudy Giuliani was revealed. The Masked Singer has officially hit bottom.’
Last week judge Nicole came under fire for cheering Mr Guilani while Ken and Robin stormed off.
One viewer tweeted: ‘Am I more disturbed that @MaskedSingerFOX trotted Rudy out for entertainment, or that Jenny and Nicole just cheered him on? Our timeline is so screwed.’
In February this year, it was revealed that Giuliani had been subpoenaed by the House select committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot, alongside the legal team that filed lawsuits with conspiracy theories regarding the 2020 presidential election.
On January 6 2021, the former New York mayor stood before an audience of Trump supporters and called for ‘trial by combat’, before crowds stormed the Capitol in an attempt to prevent Congress from certifying the election of President Joe Biden.
The Masked Singer airs on Fox in the US.
