The Grand Tour’s comeback is now just a matter of weeks away, with Amazon Prime Video confirming the series’ return and revealing a new title.
According to sources, Eurocrash, which will be a standalone special episode, will be the first new episode in over a year.
It will also be the first edition of The Grand Tour to air after Jeremy Clarkson’s slanderous essay about Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex.
The announcement comes after Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May reconnected on a boat, sparking rumours that they were recording the next episode of the motor enthusiast programme.
Covid halted production on The Grand Tour after three seasons, each with more than ten episodes, were published between 2016 and 2019.
Since 2020, the show’s format has shifted to emphasise feature-length episodes, which are published months apart with intervals in between.
The Grand Tour Presents A Scandi Flick, which premiered in September 2022, saw the three explore Sweden, Norway, and Finland.
Eurocrash will take them on a 1,400-mile tour through central and eastern Europe, stopping in Slovenia, Hungary, and Slovakia.
According to insiders, Eurocrash will be two hours long and will involve ‘Soviet-style Formula 1’ as well as an archer attack on the main actors.
The show also promises an appearance from a ‘famous racing driver’ and teases that the episode will end with a ‘Fast and Furious-style climax’.
Speaking to The Sun, a source said: ‘Nobody thought central Europe would be an option for a road trip but the lads have proven it’s a great destination.’
The next episode, which has no official release date yet, will see Jeremy, Richard, and James go to Mauritania on Africa’s northwestern coast.
Jeremy admitted to losing sleep last month after having to give up some of the animals on his Chipping Norton farm and shop Diddly Squat.
In his Times Column, he wrote: ‘I can never sleep properly the night before they go. All the way to the slaughterhouse I have a hot cricket ball in my stomach.’
The Grand Tour is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
