The Grand Tour is set to continue for the long run on Amazon Prime, bosses of the streaming service have confirmed today.
The Amazon Prime series has been sporadically dropping feature-length specials over the past couple of years, after Covid restrictions meant that Richard Hammond, James May and Clarkson struggled to film worldwide.
But they confirmed earlier in 2022 they were back to filming across the globe, as they hit up Europe for a new Scandinavian special.
And it looks like they’re just going to keep on coming, as Amazon Studios boss Georgia Brown confirmed there would be much more from the trio ahead.
Speaking at Thursday’s Amazon Prime Presents event, she said: ‘The second thing that hasn’t changed at all since [we launched] in 2018, is we’re still sending three old blokes around the world playing with cars and our customers just love it
‘So we will keep doing it, as long as there is a demand for it!’
Their last special – Carnage A Trois – dropped in November and was filmed during lockdown, meaning this upcoming episode will be the first out of the UK to air since 2020.
The former Top Gear stars were thought to be filming in Norway for their latest adventure, after plans for a Russia special were shelved months ago.
It’s not yet known where else the car fanatics will be heading for new episodes, but we’re sure there will be an appropriate level of madness in store.
Clarkson will soon be seen elsewhere as the second series of his show Clarkson’s Farm drops later this year.
He won’t be disappearing from TV anytime soon either, as the 61-year-old has credited his Cotswolds project with helping him become fitter.
The Grand Tour boss Andy Wilman addressed the trio’s future on telly, previously sharing with Metro.co.uk: ‘Jeremy is a bit fitter because he’s been doing the farm, you naturally are a bit fitter.
‘James [May] has been on a bit of a health kick and Hammond always was fit – apart from the bits that are broken. Everything around him that isn’t broken is actually quite in good condition.’
It means that Gilman expects the show to keep going for the foreseeable future, without the effects of age slowing them down.
