Since its debut in 2016, The Crown has taken us on a fictionalised trip through the highs and lows of royal life.

With the sixth series, which is now in production, it will all finally come to a conclusion, and if you enjoy happy endings, you could be in luck.

Big weddings are the perfect way to finish any television programme, and The Crown is no exception.

The 2005 wedding of King Charles and Queen Camilla will probably mark the end of the last season.

It’s believed that York Minster will host the event; the couple’s real wedding took place in St. George’s Chapel in Windsor.

According to a source close to Netflix, they are hoping to silence some of their detractors by depicting a “really happy moment in the history of the monarchy.”

‘For some months it has felt like the show has been goading the public by ghoulishly telling the story of Diana’s death in a heartless way, therefore causing upset to Princes William and Harry needlessly,’ the source told the Daily Mail.

The sixth season will also include the Princess of Wales, Princess Diana, who passed away in 1997 after suffering terrible injuries in a car accident in Paris’ Pont de l’Alma tunnel.

‘So the decision to end it so nicely, Netflix hope, will change the perception that they want to be callous.

‘They hope it will remove the bad taste from viewers’ mouths.’

The Netflix drama’s producers said they won’t replicate the “exact moment” of the Paris tunnel car tragedy. The show stars Dominic West as Charles, Olivia Williams as Camilla, and Elizabeth Debicki as Diana.

Pictures of the Netflix crew filming close by, nevertheless, have surfaced.

According to recent sources, Prince Harry’s iconic Nazi uniform issue will also appear in the forthcoming season, while the most recent season featured stories like “tampon-gate” and Fergie’s infamous “toe-sucking” photo.

Although The Crown has not yet announced the exact date when the show will return to our screens, we will of course keep you informed!

The Crown is available to watch on Netflix.
