The Chase’s Mark Labbett was taken aback after watching history being created on the long-running game programme.
The ITV series debuted in 2009 and has now aired 16 seasons, totaling 2247 episodes.
Mark, one of the early ‘chasers’, has been around since the beginning and has overcome several challenges.
So, when he encountered the current four who wanted to gain as much money as possible, he made his normal efforts to stop them, but was also astonished by what they were able to do.
On the most recent episode, Ange, Ben, Dan, and Ellen confronted him.
They all made it to the head-to-head, with The Beast just a step behind.
This scenario was previously dubbed ‘the one question shootout’ by fellow chaser Shaun Wallace.
When it came time to confront Mark, Ange found herself in the same situation as her comrades.
After getting her penultimate question correct, host Bradley Walsh declared to The Beast: ‘Four one-question shoot-outs, right?’
He then replied indicating this had never been done in the history of the show, saying: ‘I don’t think we’ve ever had this before.’
However, despite her best efforts, Ange fell at the last hurdle, leaving the other three to complete the Final Chase without her.
After working together to raise the prize pool to £16,000, it was time for Mark to demonstrate his abilities and prevent them from walking away with any prizes.
Despite answering three questions incorrectly, he caught up and shattered their hopes with 16 seconds to spare.
Mark is one of six chasers in the series, with Shaun, Anne Hegerty, Jenny Ryan, Paul Sinha, and Darragh Ennis.
Last year, he said that his remuneration for the programme rivalled that of a Premier League football player.
Although Mark could not reveal the exact figure, he did say that the main payday came from the spin-off series Beat The Chase.
‘That’s the week we earn like Premier League footballs so of course I’ll do it,’ he told the Daily Star.
The Chasers are paid a flat fee for each episode they appear in, providing them with extra revenue during the week-long series.
He jokingly added that if he could ‘get away with it’, he would ‘purge’ the other chasers because the fewer chasers there are, the more money I get’.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV1.
