The Chase fans in stitches at Shaun Wallace’s questionable Mona Lisa costume

=The Chase fans have been left stunned at Chaser Shaun Wallace’s very questionable Mona Lisa costume.

For the Christmas special, the quizzers dressed as different paintings, such as King Henry VII and Charles II.

However, Shaun – known on the show as The Dark Destroyer – went for a slightly different approach, donning a long brunette wig and appearing as the Mona Lisa.

Host Bradley Walsh was stunned at the costume as Shaun walked out to compete against comedian Richard Herring.

‘This isn’t easy, I haven’t smiled this much in ages,’ Shaun quipped, as Richard told him: ‘The eyes follow you around the room.’

Viewers were obsessed with the Chaser’s get-up, with one writing: ‘Absolutely stunning, Shaun.’

‘New Chaser alert: Mona Wallace,’ another said, while one more added: ‘Shaun as the Mona Lisa will give me nightmares for months.’

Richard played alongside Sky News presenter Kay Burley and footballer Eni Aluko, with the trio winning a whopping £150,000 for their chosen charities.

The contestants out-ran Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan in the Final Chase, with the quizzer running out of time before catching the team’s 21 questions.

Meanwhile, fellow Chaser Mark Labbett was recently forced to deny ‘throwing’ any questions on a celebrity special.

The 55-year-old, who’s nicknamed ‘The Beast’ was accused by some viewers of purposefully getting some questions wrong when taking on broadcaster John Inverdale, tennis coach Judy Murray, acting legend Bernard Cribbins and TV presenter Scarlett Moffatt.

Taking to Twitter, Mark hit back: ‘Never thrown a question, never will #thechase if you think I did, then please unfollow me and never tweet me again :(‘.

The Chaser lost out to the celebs on the Final Chase, with the team racking up £22,000, which amounted to £5,500 for each of their chosen charities.

The Chase Celebrity Special continues Boxing Day at 6pm on ITV.
