A former contestant on The Chase has spoken about his experiences behind the scenes, warning future players to be careful what they say because of the editing on the show.

Wil missed out on a cash prize during his appearance on the programme, but he was also disappointed with how he came across thanks to the way the programme was put together.

‘Leading up to my chase, Bradley [Walsh] asked me “Do you think you’re going to beat the chaser, Wil?’ and I went, “Oh, yes… not a chance”. It was a bit of fake confidence into obviously self deprecation,’ he told LadBible.

‘But they cut that last part out,’ he added. ‘It was just me going “Oh, yes.” Which makes you look a bit of a t***.’

Wil also discussed some of the other elements of being on the programme, discussing a detail some viewers might be unaware of.

‘A lot of people don’t know this but when you’re filming a regular episode of The Chase it’s not in front of a live studio audience it’s literally just you, the chaser, Bradley and you know the production staff,’ he said.

Discussing the ‘well oiled machine’ behind the scenes, he added: ‘Bradley does his introductions and then basically you start filming through the show now it’s very stop start, but it’s really efficient.’

It comes after The Chase host Bradley was left raging after a contestant was given an ‘unfair’ question during Wednesday night’s episode.

The Chase viewers have expressed their anger after a blind contestant was given a question based on visual knowledge, with fans blasting the move as ‘unfair’ and ‘absurd’.

Star of the show Paul Sinha took to social media to respond to those who ‘don’t like’ the length of his explanations given after answering questions on the ITV quiz show.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
