Tonight’s episode of The Bridge ended in an almighty blow for the camp as contestant Luke was forced to destroy 100ft of the bridge as he bowed out of the competition.
A major spanner was thrown into the works when the group was told they must choose one person to leave the process taking £10k with them – little did they know that their beloved structure would be wrecked as a result, just three days before their deadline.
The exit bombshell was delivered in the form of a flare and Zack announced the news.
‘Tonight, one of you must choose to leave,’ he read. ‘Do you think you can stay and win this challenge, or do you want to leave now and get the chance to take £10k from the prize fund? The decision is yours.’
Luke, who already pocketed £5k during an overnight mission, opted to put himself forward to leave and the rest of the group quickly agreed that he should be the one to go.
And as he hopped onto a canoe to vacate the island, the 26-year-old was told that in order to get his hands on the money he had to sabbotage the bridge.
Luke was handed an axe by one of the producers and it wasn’t long before he hacked away at the construction.
‘I didn’t like that,’ he said afterwards. ‘Oh, that is f***ing awful.’
In the preview for The Bridge’s final episode, the remaining contestants discover Luke’s handy work and realise they’ve been left incredibly shortchanged.
‘He’s absolutely f***ed the whole camp,’ one member of the group says, while a worried Tara adds: ‘I don’t know if we’re going to get it done.’
Has Luke completely ruined the groups’ chances of completing the bridge?
Only time will tell…
The Bridge concludes on Monday at 9pm on Channel 4.
