Colin Farrell has hinted that a possible TV series surrounding The Batman’s Penguin could be in the works ‘a short time’ after Robert Pattinson’s titular film hits the big screen.

The 45-year-old Irish actor nearly broke the internet after pictures emerged showcasing his full transformation into Oswald Cobblepot complete with extensive make-up and prosthetics for the new DC film starring the Twilight star and Zoe Kravitz.

However, the spin-off series, which aims to focus solely on the supervillain, is in the early stages of development, according to Farrell.

Speaking over the potential project, Farrell told Entertainment Tonight: ‘They are still early in the process of creating this world.’

‘We have to get into what made him the man he is. And also, it will pick up where this film finished off I think. I think it’ll pick up a little short time after the last frame of this film,’ he added.

Although nothing has been officially confirmed yet, the Horrible Bosses star expressed how ‘fun’ a TV adaptation would be.

‘It’s a lovely, lovely character, and explores vulnerabilities,’ Farrell added.

‘His violence is apparent, his propensity for violence and his ability to use it as a tool is apparent, but (also) to see we all have soft spots.

‘Every single person. And to be able to find that location, dig around it would be fun.’

Matilda actor Danny Devito took on the monocled Batman villain in 1992 alongside Michael Keaton and gave Farrell a helpful tip to consider.

‘I think that no matter what, he’s gonna be great because he’s a great actor,’ Devito told Collider.

He went on: ‘The only thing he has to worry about is that Oswald Cobblepot will show up at his house…’ before giving his classic Penguin grunt.

While Farrell seemed to be absent from Wednesday’s London premiere, Pattinson and Kravitz, Andy Serkis and more graced the red carpet to celebrate the film’s overdue release.

The Batman hits cinemas on March 4.
