The Apprentice viewers have expressed how ‘gutted’ they are over Shama Amin’s early exit, with several saying they thought that she could have won the 2022 series.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that the contestant had quit the show due to health reasons.
As she and the rest of the competitors arrived for the briefing on the latest task on tonight’s episode, she addressed the group, saying: ‘Because of medical reasons, due to this process being so physically demanding, despite the efforts the whole team has made to support me, I’ve had to make a difficult decision to leave the process.’
‘Shama, I’m really sad to hear that. I wish you and your family all the best for the future,’ Lord Alan Sugar told her.
Speaking to the camera after making her announcement, the children’s day nursery owner added: ‘Mentally, I was strong enough to carry on, but my body wasn’t allowing me to carry on, so I had no choice but to make a difficult decision like that.’
Numerous Apprentice fans shared their devastation over her departure, with some stating that they could have seen Shama reaching the end of the process.
‘Sad to see Shama go on #TheApprentice I had big hopes for her. She seemed to really know her stuff,’ one person tweeted.
‘Nooo. I wanted to see more from Shama. She seemed like a solid contender,’ another said.
Someone else remarked: ‘Can’t believe Shama has left she was my winner from ep1!’
‘Shama was the best contestant. Gonna miss her,’ another added.
Rheumatoid arthritis is a long-term condition that causes pain, swelling and stiffness in the joints. The condition usually affects the hands, feet and wrists.
In the statement announcing Shama’s exit – which was retweeted by Lord Sugar – The Apprentice wished the entrepreneur all the best for the future.
‘We are sad to announce that Shama Amin has chosen to leave The Apprentice due to a pre-existing medical condition,’ the statement read.
‘We have loved having her on the show, and we wish Shama all the best for the future.’
The Apprentice returns next Thursday at 9pm on BBC One and is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
