Tom Skinner missed the birth of his twin children because they arrived four weeks early.
The Apprentice star, 32, has revealed that his wife Sinead Chambers ‘almost died’ during the birth of their twins, Roma and Darla.
He received a call from Sinead, who advised him she required an emergency C-section within the next 24 hours, when he was overseas in North Carolina leading the West Ham Legends squad in a tournament.
Speaking to The Sun, he said: ‘The doctor said to me they noticed in a routine scan that Twin B had not gained any weight and hasn’t grown at all, and her heartbeat is really slow.
‘He told me “there’s a significant risk to your wife’s life and twins” life if we don’t get them out immediately.
‘“We need to get these babies out within the next 24 hours – latest – but I want to do it now.”‘
But because the first flight out wasn’t for another five hours, Tom chose to return to the TCT Tournament football match just in time for kick-off.
His West Ham squad lost 4-2 after he delivered a “motivational speech.”
Sinead’s sister kept Tom updated and told him at the airport that the twins’ heart rates had fallen and that all three of his family were now in “serious danger.”
The possibility of having to inform his two-year-old son Henry that the rest of their family didn’t make it caused Tom to cry in the airport.

He then proceeded to his flight, and just as he turned his phone to aeroplane mode, he received another message from Sinead’s sister, this time with the good news that his twins had been born.
But before he could get any further information about his wife, the plane took off and he lost communication.
Tom had no idea whether his wife had survived the journey, which lasted around an hour and a half.
When he arrived in Philadelphia, he was relieved to see Sinead was doing well, but the twins were in incubators on oxygen.
Tom hadn’t slept in two days by the time he landed at Heathrow and was able to visit his girls and see his wife.
‘Two more West Ham fans are born,’ he said.
After being watched in the hospital for the first few weeks of their existence, the twins are set to come home this weekend.
