Tesco is the latest supermarket to release its festive offering, themed around the determination of the nation, how sweet!

So far, retailers such as John Lewis, Marks and Spencer, and Aldi have all put their Christmas adverts out for all to see.

Now we’re well into November, many others are following suit, with Tesco finally revealing the very heartwarming theme of their own output

The premise of the video comes from Tesco’s Christmas 2021 Report, which found 86% of the nation claim that nothing will stop them from having a joyful Christmas this year.

That’s exactly what the supermarket tries to portray in their funny and adorable video, which debuts tonight on ITV.

It will be seen highlighting how Christmas is officially back and that nothing will get in the way of the nation enjoying the festivities.

Set to Queen’s iconic track Don’t Stop Me Now, the ad opens outside of a Tesco store, with a customer set on trying to make sure she has everything prepared for Christmas – after she’d forgotten the all-important cranberry sauce.

As she makes the journey, the ad moves between iconic Christmas moments, celebrating merrymakers overcoming anything that is thrown at them.

Alessandra Bellini, Chief Customer Officer at Tesco, said: ‘We know that Christmas is a hugely important time for many of our customers and, after last year’s events, that is truer now than ever.

‘Whenever we set out to create our campaigns, we want to be sure that we capture how the nation really feels and reflect that. Our research revealed that people are looking forward to meaningful get-togethers with their loved ones again and given the backdrop of canceled plans of last year they won’t let anything stop them from having a proper celebration this year.’

She explained how this got them thinking about the idea of trying to show the nation’s ‘determined spirit’ and how we overcome all the little things which build up during the festive season.

‘We hope our joyful festive ad will resonate and put a smile on people’s faces as we prepare for a season of well-deserved celebrations. After all, this Christmas, nothing’s stopping us,’ she added.

Shoppers always look forward to ads from the biggest retailers, which act as a huge signifier the countdown to the big day is well and truly on.

This week saw fellow supermarket Aldi’s ad – featuring Marcus Rashford as a radish – land on-screen, even including a nod to Colin the Caterpillar…

The Tesco Christmas advert will debut during tonight’s The Chase Celebrity Special which airs from 8.30pm on ITV.
