Jenelle Evans’ teenage son Jace has run away from home twice in the last two weeks.
He was located safe by police on Monday, and the 31-year-old has now addressed the incident.
A social media user responded on Jenelle’s TikTok account, stating, ‘Take care of your kids instead of going away to California ff’.
This comes after the North Carolina native wrote on the same app about going to California.
Jenelle addressed the criticism immediately, which she was not pleased with.
‘Let’s talk, there’s a lot of comments going on right now. It’s crazy,’ she began.
‘First of all, I didn’t run away to Cali. It was a work trip that was planned for months ahead of time.’
She then corrected the chronology of the trip, telling viewers that she took it a week before posting the video.
‘A lot of you were relating the incident with my son to my work trip, which has nothing to do with each other,’ she reasoned.
‘A lot of my son’s actions are being pinned against me and I’m getting a lot of hate and comments. It just keeps going and going and going.
‘My son has been having a hard time for the past two, three years. None of this has gone public because we’re trying to keep his privacy.’
Jenelle gained custody of her 14-year-old son Jace earlier this year after her mother Barbara served as his guardian.
‘There’s a big reason behind why I got him back,’ she claimed but didn’t disclose details.
She did, however, advise other parents to watch their children’s phones and to be especially aware of Snapchat.
Jenelle didn’t say why the current events occurred, but she did say Jace was upset over having his phone seized.
‘Sometimes they don’t take that too lightly and sometimes get really mad if you take them away,’ she said.
‘It’s kind of like an addiction to them because they are so attached to it.
‘My son is fine, he’s healthy and he’s safe,’ she concluded.
Jenelle, who left the MTV programme to work as an influencer, has two additional children and is married to Eason David.
