The face of Good Morning Britain, Susanna Reid, responded to haters who said she was bad at her job.
The 52-year-old host went on Twitter to answer mean comments from social media users who didn’t like her work.
Following Wednesday’s GMB, in which Susanna presented alongside Ed Balls and discussed the likes of the BBC scandal and the Barbie film, one angry viewer wrote: ‘Todays debate on @GMB is barbie a good role model. Not a word on @BorisJohnson not handing over his phone @edballs @susannareid100 Are we still pretending this is acceptable standard of journalism?’
Susanna bluntly replied: ‘We covered the Boris Johnson WhatsApp story at considerable length.’
However, another viewer wasn’t convinced, hitting out: ‘The fact you are talking about a Barbie which is a child’s film on a serious news show, shows the public how far your standards have fallen and how bad you have got as a presenter…’
Clearly not having it, Susanna responded: ‘We run a three hour show packed with serious and lighter news items, interviews and debates to appeal to a wide range of viewers. Barbie may not be the item that appeals to you, but it will to others.’
She then added: ‘This year I was nominated for a BAFTA, RTS & TRIC award so it seems I’m getting better as a presenter.’
But that wasn’t all, as comments gathered continuing to question whether Susanna had won any awards, she replied: ‘I’m lucky enough to have won the TRIC twice.’
Urging her to ignore the trolls, one fan added: ‘Never read the comments @susannareid100 remember don’t even read this.’
‘I enjoy the comments,’ Susanna replied.
This comes after she was praised for responding to a “condescending” guest on GMB.
Tracey Mallaghan, an activist, was asked to come on the show to talk about the person who threw orange confetti at George Osborne and Thea Rogers as they left the church after their wedding on Saturday.
At one point during the debate, Mallaghan asked Susanna: ‘What happened with what, darling?’
After the briefest of pauses, and with a little laugh, Susanna hit back with: ‘Sorry, you don’t need to call me darling.’
But a lot of watchers praised Susanna for addressing the comment and shutting it down right away. The speaker had been called “condescending” and “patronising,” so people thought Susanna did the right thing.
‘You don’t need to call me darling! Well said Susanna that made me giggle,’ tweeted one audience member, as another added: ‘“Sorry, don’t call me ‘Darling”. You tell her @susannareid100!!!’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1.
