Shirley Ballas has declared that she no longer intends to marry her boyfriend Danny Taylor.
The Strictly Come Dancing judge, 62, has been seeing the 50-year-old actor since 2019 after meeting on the set of a pantomime performance of Jack and the Beanstalk.
Shirley has stated that she does not intend to marry again after they were thought to be engaged when he surprised her with a diamond ring in 2021.
‘I’ve reconsidered. ‘I just feel like at this moment in my life, my mother and I have this fantastic relationship, and we want to do some travelling and various things,’ she explained.
While the couple is presently in a long-distance relationship since Danny travels for work, she stated that they were keeping in touch on a frequent basis to make it work.
‘[The relationship is] going good – I’m busy, he’s busy and we talk to each other every day – several times a day, and my mum talks to him as well,’ she added while speaking to MailOnline.
Danny, a trained ballroom, tap, and waltz dancer, has previously appeared in the TV shows The Bill and Brookside.
Shirley also discussed her strong relationship with her mother Audrey, 85, stating she would like to spend more time with her mother working on a TV project.
‘I’d love to do a travel show with my mother, but she doesn’t like the camera, so she says, but give her a few brandies and she’s great,’ she said.
Last year Shirley said her mother had helped raise son Mark, also a professional dancer, from age two to 21 while she was ‘travelling for my dance career’.
‘She’s a Queen Bee and quite bossy…she’s not as forgiving as I am, but she has a beautifully kind heart,’ she explained.
When chatting to The Guardian, the reality TV show judge and professional dancer revealed that her mother lived with her and that they liked to’snuggle up in bed and watch murder mysteries’ together.
Shirley married former ballroom dancer Sammy Stopford from 1980 to 1984 before marrying dancer Corky Ballas in 1985.
They divorced in 2007 after 22 years of marriage.
While there were concerns that Shirley would not be returning to Strictly after suffering ‘out of control abuse’ during the previous season, it was subsequently revealed that she would.
Shirley said on Good Morning Britain that, in light of the massive abuse she received last year, her son Mark Ballas, who won Dancing With The Stars in the US last year, would be monitoring her channels and filtering out hateful messages.
Strictly Come Dancing is streaming on BBC iPlayer.
