Angela Scanlon, a TV presenter, has stated she is ‘bloody happy’ with the professional dancer she has been matched with on Strictly Come Dancing.
The 39-year-old Irish broadcaster, who hosts BBC2’s Your House Made Perfect, will join Adam Thomas, Bobby Brazier, and Zara McDermott in the upcoming season of the BBC dance series.
Despite the fact that the pairings have yet to be revealed, Angela has already released a video on social media after learning who her professional partner would be.
Angela videotaped herself chatting to the camera in the video, and it was evident that the news had pleased her.
‘This is the face of a woman who found out her Strictly dance partner,’ she began.
‘It’s a man. I know, and he’s really good at dancing!’
Angela, on the other hand, halted the video before she divulged too much.
In the caption she wrote: ‘I now know who my Strictly dance partner is. I didn’t realise how hideously anxious I was waiting, the control freak within losing her sweet little mind.
‘Anyway, I’ve been put out of my misery and I am bloody delighted.
‘We haven’t started training yet but I already feel a bit calmer, which I’m sure is a bit deluded but I’m leaving it for now.’
She then asked her fans to guess who she’d been partnered with, but there was no agreement, with names ranging from Gorka and Graziano to Kai and Carlos.
When announced as part of the next season of Strictly Angela said she was relieved that the news was finally out.
‘I’m excited. I’m not great at keeping a secret, it’s a bit of a relief. But it’s all very real now,’ she told Zoe Ball on her Radio 2 Breakfast show.
She added: ‘I’ve told a few people. If you tell me a secret and it’s super guarded you can people confident I’m not going to blab it, but I’ve told 1700 of my closest friends.
‘I have no idea how my pelvic floor will react to that level of jumping.’
While Angela struggled to contain her excitement, she also explained she had many questions about the show.
‘Will they make me tan? How itchy are sequins?! Do they do flesh coloured sports bras? Well – there’s only one way to find out, right!?
‘Now I’m panicking a bit… but also secretly thrilled about the prospect of all that glitter. Let’s go!’
Angela Angela, in addition to anchoring her popular interior design programme, is the only woman in the UK and Ireland with her own Saturday night talk show, Ask Me Anything on RTÉ One.
She began her career as a stylist and worked in fashion TV in Ireland before moving to the UK to become the new presenter of Robot Wars and documentaries for the BBC.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC later this year.
