Tonight’s the night as the 2021 Strictly Come Dancing final has remaining couples Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice and John Whaite and Johannes Radebe waiting in the wings to step on to the ballroom floor for their final spins.

Following the sad news of fellow finalists AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington being forced to withdraw from the competition on Friday due to the TV presenter suffering a torn ligament, the stage is set for just two couples to go head-to-head in this year’s grand finale.

With three dances apiece, the couples will perform two routines they’ve previously danced and an all-new showdance, set to dazzle the judges and viewers at home

Rose and Giovanni are reprising their Quickstep and tear-jerking Couple’s Choice routine, and John and Johannes are dancing once again their Rumba and dramatic Paso Doble.

Another traditional part of the Strictly final is the joyous group dance, which unites all of the series’ contestants in one final routine.

However, this year’s 15 contestants are due to be a few short for their big dance on Saturday due to some unfortunate circumstances.

Which celebs are missing from the Strictly final?

The full roster for this year’s competition comprised of Rose, John, AJ, CBBC presenter Rhys Stephenson, Hollywood actor Greg Wise, BBC Breakfast star Dan Walker, McFly frontman Tom Fletcher, Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies, EastEnders actress Nina Wadia, comedian Judi Love, social media star and chef Tilly Ramsay, actor Robert Webb, Coronation Street performer Katie McGlynn, ex rugby player Ugo Monye and Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty.

On Friday night, AJ enjoyed dinner with her ‘Strictly bubble’, taking a group selfie from the table, with a few missing colleagues including Tom, Greg and Nadia, as well as finalists Rose and John.

Two stars who were forced to confirm they had pulled put of appearing on Saturday night’s show this week were also MIA – Robert and Tilly.

Why is Robert Webb missing and how far did he get in the show?

Robert originally pulled out of Strictly in the early stages on the advice of doctors, having undergone open heart surgery two years ago and admitting he had ‘bitten off way more than I could chew’.

Taking to Instagram to talk about why he wouldn’t be returning for ‘one more dance’, the Peep Show star explained how ‘people will inevitably find their own ways to interpret my “silence”’.

He continued: ‘It isn’t really silence, of course. It’s just doing other stuff. But I thought I ought to pipe up because I won’t be in the group dance of the strictly final this Sat and I didn’t want my absence (or my “silence” about it) to be taken as evidence of any kind of bad feeling towards the show.’

Praising the show and his professional partner Dianne Buswell, he continued: ‘My love for Strictly is a season that is forever summer. However, the producers understood that when I had to stop, I had to stop completely. Dianne & Joe came over for lunch a few weeks ago and m’partner gets it.

‘If I gave out a few more details about what the show had been doing to me physically & mentally, you wouldn’t be surprised that the offer of one more dance was politely declined,’ he added, reminding fans of the potential danger to his health.

He then joked about how his early departure had changed the numbers for the final from four to three, addressing the ‘angry Rhys fans’ after Rhys Stephenson was eliminated in a closely-fought semi-final.

The 49-year-old made an early exit with partner Dianne Buswell after week three’s Quickstep to The Muppet Show Theme.

With Greg Wise’s professional partner Karen Hauer reportedly on the side lines for the final due to an injury, it’s thought Dianne may team up with Greg Wise for the group dance.

Why is Tilly Ramsay missing and how far did she get in the show?

Tilly will be forced to skip appearing during this year’s final as she tested positive for Covid-19 this week.

Announcing the news on her Instagram page on Wednesday, the 20-year-old TikTok star wrote: ‘So sad to be missing the Strictly final – but sadly have tested positive for covid so will be watching from my sofa and cheering on the amazing finalists from home on Saturday night – wishing everyone lots of love & good luck x Tilly.’

The CBBC presenter was eliminated in week 10 of the competition, narrowly missing out on a spot in the quarter final with her professional partner Nikita Kuzmin after a joyful Samba to Dua Lipa’s Levitating, in the face of stiff competition.

What time is the Strictly final tonight?

Saturday night’s final starts at 7:10pm on BBC One.

It was initially advertised as beginning at 7pm but was later revised to account for being down to two couples and six competitive dances from three and nine respectively.

The Strictly Come Dancing final airs on Saturday at 7.10pm on BBC One.
