Strictly couple Ola and James Jordan admit ‘people look at them differently’ after weight gain

Former Strictly Come Dancing stars Ola and James Jordan feel like people judge them for their weight gain.

The married couple – who both worked as professionals on the show and tied the knot in 2003 – welcomed their first child Ella together nine months ago, and they have admitted they have both noticed their changing figures.

With their focus now on parenthood rather than staying fit for the ballroom, it’s no surprise the pair’s bodies are changing, and they recently revealed their mum and dad bods in a swimsuit selfie.

‘We have [let ourselves go],’ Ola confessed on Monday’s episode of Loose Women, noting that people were envious of her figure. ‘It’s really hard because it’s just accepting what you are now. I had an amazing body when I was on Strictly.’

Her husband admitted he it does bother him when he sees the results of his weight gain, but he knows it’s something that also happens with age.

‘I put on three stone since I stopped Strictly, which is quite a lot,’ he said. ‘I think people look at you differently, too.’

He added: ‘It gets harder as you get older as well.’

The proud parents – who were joined by their baby girl on the air, with Ella fascinated by the monitors showing the family on TV – also revealed while they would be delighted to have another baby, there are certain things to consider after conceiving through IVF treatment.

‘I’d love to,’ Ola said, while James explained: ‘We obviously tried naturally… we needed to think about going back to IVF. We’ve already had a few conversations about it.’

Ola added: ‘We’re getting older now, so my egg count won’t probably the same as it was when I was 37.’

The 39-year-old star recently admitted she was ‘absolutely horrified’ and ‘mortified’ when she saw the photo, which was taken by a friend, but she is learning to be less critical of herself.

‘You know what it’s like, if you’ve put on a bit of weight, you hide away in baggy clothes and avoid looking in full Iength mirrors! So this was a bit of a shock,’ she said.

‘But I thought – you know what I’ve had a baby and no I don’t look like I did in my time on Strictly – but I’m not dancing for six hours a day.’

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
