Strictly Come Dancing 2023 has only just begun, and there’s already trouble, with a performer admitting she’s threatened to quit.
Actress Amanda Abbington was rumoured to be threatening to leave the programme only hours before the first live episode of the season due to a disagreement with professional dance partner Giovanni Pernice.
According to a source, the duo do not get along and have a history of squabbles, with the Sherlock actor supposedly dissatisfied with Gio’s’militant’ approach to training, and things are presently ‘very uncomfortable’ between them.
However, Amanda’s agent stated that this was false.
According to The Sun, Giovanni can be ‘very gruff’ because he takes the show’very seriously,’ and Amanda found this ‘tough to bear.’
They said she was’shaken’ and had ‘liaised with her colleagues about resigning’ because it had ‘become far more stressful than she ever envisaged,’ which her representative has since disputed.
Despite this, the insider continued, Giovanni and Amanda ‘dance really well together.’
Fans won’t have to wait long to witness how the two performs together, as the first live event is set to take place on Saturday night.
Amanda was overjoyed to be partnered with Giovanni, noting that he was precisely who she had hoped for.
But Strictly is famously difficult, and she was in tears the day after their first practises at the prospect of putting on her dancing shoes again.
Amanda struggled to sit down on the floor to put on her comfortable shoes after a day of rehearsals, according to a video uploaded on Instagram by her boyfriend Jonathan Goodwin.
She admits to feeling ‘a little bit vulnerable,’ claiming she ‘welled up upstairs in tears thinking about having to put on my dance shoes again.’
Even putting on her trainers, which Amanda described as the’most comfortable’ shoes she has, caused her to wince and scream in pain.
While her right foot wasn’t as terrible, she said that a horrible blood blister had formed on the bottom of her left foot.
Amanda isn’t alone, as she stated she received a text from another Strictly contender Les Dennis, who admitted he couldn’t move after starting his training.
Meanwhile, Amanda learned from the other female contenders that they, too, were having difficulties getting their shoes on.
