Strictly Come Dancing will return to our television screens in a couple of months, and Adam Thomas has allegedly signed on as one of the celebrity beginners.
The former Emmerdale and current Waterloo Road actor would trade in his Donte Charles character lines for ballroom shoes and the opportunity to show off his own exuberant personality.
He’s no stranger to the event and its substance, having previously demonstrated his distinct sense of humour by joking that despite being married, he wanted to suffer its fabled curse.
The ‘Strictly curse’ refers to celebrities who become romantically involved with their professional dancing partners.
The Sun reported that he said: ‘Bring it all on. I love a bit of glitz and glam.
‘I just want to experience the Strictly curse.’
When Adam, 34, married his long-term girlfriend Caroline Daly in 2017, he was clearly kidding. Elsie-Rose, five, and Teddy, eight, are the couple’s children, and Teddy plays his son Tommy on Waterloo Road.
A TV insider told the publication: ‘After two decades on screen and, as one of the Thomas brothers, he instantly brings a huge fanbase. That’s what Strictly bosses love.’
Adam is one of three famous siblings. Scott, his twin brother, was a Love Island finalist in 2016. Kady McDermott, his co-star on the programme and previous girlfriend, has returned to the villa.
Ryan Thomas, his elder brother, was a Coronation Street fan and won the last series of Celebrity Big Brother.
The source continued: ‘Producers also see him as someone who can fill the young hunk role, which is important and often sees them pick soap stars.’
Soap stars James Bye, Jake Wood, Danny Mac, and eventual champion Kelvin Fletcher have all been seen on the dance floor.
Following an injury, Adam has already begun working on his fitness.
