Following speculations that partner Amanda Abbington was ready to leave Strictly Come Dancing, Giovanni Pernice has commended her.
Rumours began to circulate this week that there was already turmoil building behind the scenes of the BBC dancing series.
Actress Amanda, 49, was rumoured to be threatening to quit the series just hours before the first live broadcast of the season due to a disagreement with Giovanni, 33.
While a source stated the couple did not get along, her reps denied the claims.
Giovanni has now spoken in, addressing the rumours by stating that everything is well between the two.
Re-sharing an image from Amanda’s Instagram, which showed her smiling during a training session, he wrote: ‘I usually don’t say those things early (as probably everybody knows) but I am extremely proud of you and I can’t wait for people to watch what we have created.’
Beside the picture, Amanda had written: ‘The smile you give your pro partner at the end of the camera rehearsal when you know you are in safe and hugely talented hands.’
According to the insider, the dancing partners were not getting along and had a series of confrontations, with the Sherlock actor allegedly dissatisfied with Gio’s’militant’ approach to training.
While they claimed that things were currently’incredibly tight’ between them, a spokesman for Amanda assured Metro.co.uk that this was not the case.
Amanda had been in tears following her first day of rehearsals earlier this month, when she began the rigorous training routine.
Amanda struggled to sit down on the floor to put on her comfortable shoes after the first day of rehearsals for Strictly, according to a video uploaded on Instagram by her fiancé Jonathan Goodwin.
When asked how she was doing, Amanda said she felt ‘fragile’ and had ‘welled up upstairs in tears thinking about having to put on my dancing shoes again’.
She also described how she had a horrible blood blister on the bottom of one of her feet.
The first Strictly Come Dancing live show airs tonight at 6.15pm on BBC One.
