Brendan Cole, a former Strictly Come Dancing judge, has revealed that he and his family will soon be staying in a tent in Spain while their house is being renovated.
The former professional dancer performed on Strictly for the first 15 seasons, partnering with artists such as Fiona Phillips, Lisa Snowdon, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
After quitting the programme in 2017, he competed in the fourteenth series of Dancing on Ice in 2022, reaching the final and finishing second.
Brendan, 47, is devoting this summer to working on one of his properties and has explained why he’s preparing for an extended ‘glamping experience’.
‘We’re conducting a really wonderful renovation on our house in Mallorca,’ he explained.
‘I’ve acquired numerous properties over the years with the aim of refurbishing them but never got around to it, so I sold them, and now we’re conducting a thorough restoration on our property in Mallorca.
‘Because we’re doing the renovation we actually can’t live in the house so the plan is to actually be in a glamping tent on the property which is quite nice although if it gets too hot, which I fear it might be, we may well just come back,’ he added when speaking to The Sun.
He went on to claim that while he and his wife Zoe and their two children, Aurelia and Dante, have already been there “from time to time,” they just had a “moment of gin craziness.”
‘Probably three or four months ago now when, over a couple of trips to Mallorca, we took this massive bell tent over with us,’ he shared.
After being forced to camp in the tent for several weeks earlier this year after a holiday rental property fell through, Brendan said it was a ‘really lovely adventurous sort of thing to do’, which they had missed once returning home.
‘Now we are going back in a couple of weeks. But if it is too hot then we might come back…. But we have got a barbecue right outside the tent so we can cook and we have set up a solar shower,’ he added.
Brendan revealed in 2018 that his contract with the BBC has not been extended and that he will no longer be a part of the Strictly lineup after first appearing in 2004.
He came near to tears when he revealed the news during an interview on Lorraine, saying it was ‘hard to talk about’ being cut.
‘The BBC haven’t renewed my contract – we get renewed year on year – and they made an editorial decision not to have me back on the show,’ he continued.
The dancer later stated that it felt’very raw,’ but he still wanted to be a part of the series.
Strictly Come Dancing is streaming on BBC iPlayer.
