Johannes Radebe, a Strictly Come Dancing star, returned to South Africa for a funeral.
The 36-year-old has been teaching his House of Jojo dancing class and travelling with his show Freedom Unleashed, but he has taken time out of his schedule for an essential cause.
In a gallery of photos, Johannes shared an insight into the funeral. He wrote: ‘Though you had to let go of this world to find peace, we hold on to your memory in our hearts, so you live forever. 🖤 #home.’
Johannes and his loved ones were mostly dressed in black as they honoured an unknown person’s life.
He was also photographed dancing in cheetah-print attire, which Johannes has previously stated is part of his culture.
‘We’re a dancing nation. Sad, happy, we dance,’ he told The Guardian.
‘I have faced the darkest, gut-wrenching sorrow I’ve known against the backdrop of the most euphoric highs,’ the professional dancer said in his Instagram story.
‘Jojo Finally Home,’ he added, suggesting it’s a line take from his upcoming memoir.
Famous friends including 2021 dance partner John Whaite, radio DJ Clara Amfo, and former Coronation Street actress Victoria Ekanoye added love hearts in the comments area to show their support for Johannes.
While Strictly dancer Graziano Di Prima wrote: ‘Absolutely dear.’
‘My daughter told me she saw you at the funeral. My sincere condolences, he will be dearly missed,’ another person added.
Johannes recently discussed how Strictly Come Dancing helped him overcome his “internalised homophobia.”
Johannes explained to The Sun how the BBC show encouraging him to be his authentic self has been powerful.
‘All my life, I’d been taught to tone it down.
‘So to be a part of an establishment like Strictly that says, “Do you want to take it up a notch?” has been absolutely beautiful.’
Johannes will be returning to the Strictly ballroom for the 2023 series.
