Adam Peaty’s girlfriend Eiri Munro assured she’s ‘so proud’ following his elimination from Strictly Come Dancing last night.
The Olympic swimmer and professional partner Katya Jones were sent home by the judges after going head-to-head against Tilly Ramsay and her partner, Nikita Kuzmin, in the dance-off.
Taking to social media after the episode aired, Eiri shared a picture of Adam and the pro on her Instagram story.
‘What an incredible journey!’ she penned. ‘Can’t believe it’s come to an end. v proud of you both.’
Eiri completed her post with two pink love heart emojis.
Adam’s relationship with Eiri – who he shares son George-Anderson with – was thrown into the spotlight recently when viewers thought he appeared to lean in for a kiss with Katya at the end of a routine, before stopping himself.
He quashed speculation over the scenes at the time and insisted there was nothing more to it.
Eiri initially made light of the moment on TikTok, but later explained that the fall-out from it had been ‘a lot’ and had caused her to take a ‘break’ from social media.
‘I did take a little bit of a break, a little one,’ she shared on a recent video. ‘I want to say thank you to everyone, it actually makes me a bit emotional. To everyone that has been really nice to me because last week was a lot. I do want to say I appreciate people on here.
‘Even if it’s a thousand nice comments and one mean one, it’s so easy to feel like the world is against you and it did feel like that for a while.’
Adam and Katya’s last dance was a jive to Little Bitty Pretty One by Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers.
Reflecting on his time on the show, Adam said: ‘I have absolutely loved every single challenge. I’ve never had a challenge like this.
‘As an Olympian for 16 years, I’ve pushed my body to places that I never thought it could be pushed.
‘This is just a whole new ballgame and I’ve got so much respect for everyone that dances across the world and to all of these contestants and pros that put themselves on the line every single week, it’s just been a great experience.’
He continued: ‘I just want to say thank you to Katya, everyone behind the scenes, all the judges, wardrobe, make-up artists… absolutely everyone.’
Katya addressed Adam, saying: ‘I was not ready to be in this position today. But, looking back, this is you, you have done all of this.
‘None of us expected you to come from the Olympics.
‘After the dance-off, I looked at him and he had tears in his eyes.
‘Someone who’s an absolute unbeatable machine, that we see defending his titles for seven years non-stop, being emotional about dancing.
‘I really think you deserve a lot more appreciation for what you’ve done and I was not ready for this.’
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.45pm on BBC One.
