Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman appeared to joke about the new national lockdown announcement during Saturday’s show – and it didn’t go unnoticed by viewers.
When speaking with Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing and his dance partner Karen Hauer, Claudia said the show might have to ‘go night night’ as she joked that Jamie had won the show already.
Craig Revel Horwood initially branded Jamie’s performance as ‘really bad’, although he said he ‘loved the opening section’ and ‘loved the Fred Astaire lines’.
‘I think he loved it, really loved it,’ Jamie joked to Claudia after his performance..
To which Claudia replied: ‘I think you should prepare yourself for a 10.’
‘Are we winning?’ Jamie continued.
‘Of course, you’re winning, give him the Glitterball! Let’s all go night night, we might have to anyway,’ Claudia added.
Viewers couldn’t help but pick up on the comment, as one tweeted: ‘Tess struggling to compose herself after Claudia threatening for the whole show to “go night-night”.’
Another commented: ‘LETS ALL GO NIGHT NIGHT.’
While one added: ‘“Let’s all go night night, we might have to anyway” Claudia.’
Earlier this evening, Prime Minister Boris Johnson explained that the UK would be going into another national lockdown from November 1, in a bid to try and save Christmas.
He was joined by chief scientific adviser Sir Patrick Vallance and chief medical officer Professor Chris Whitty for the briefing, following a meeting of his Cabinet earlier in the afternoon.
Pubs, restaurants and non-essential shops will be forced to close once again – although some will be available for takeaway.
