Strictly 2020: Graziano Di Prima devastated as he’s stranded in UK for Christmas amid tier 4 restrictions

Strictly Come Dancing pro Graziano Di Prima has revealed that he is stranded in the UK for Christmas after Boris Johnson put London under tier four lockdown restrictions.

Graziano, from Sicily in Italy, was due to fly home this week but hundreds of flights to Europe have been cancelled because of the latest lockdown restrictions.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, the professional dancer shared a heartbreaking post revealing he was unable to fly home to see his family and fiance.

‘There’s something that you cannot buy… family,’ he penned.

‘I tried everything possible to make my way home but it is not possible…’

He captioned the snap: ‘What just happened?… familyiseverything.’

Graziano’s followers were quick to send him messages of love including former Strictly contestant Gemma Atkinson.

‘Oh no! I’m so sorry for you both,’ she commented.

‘So sorry darling man,’ Catherine Tyldesley added.

While TV GP, Dr Ranj posted a series of crying face emojis.

Graziano was not paired up with a celebrity during the 2020 series which saw Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse crowned as the winners.

However, the dancer did take part in the professional’s group routines, so not only did he have to self-isolate at home for two weeks before the show began, but he was also tested for coronavirus twice.

After their tests came back negative, the professionals all moved into a hotel together.

Ahead of the dancing competition, BBC bosses put a number of safety measures in place so that the show could go ahead.

They shortened the series and worked with small crews with no live audience to make sure they adhered to social-distancing guidelines as much as possible.

Strictly Come Dancing is available to watch on the BBC iPlayer.
