She’s one of the most divisive characters in Stranger Things, but the Netflix series’ producers may be bringing her back for season 5.
Kali, alias Eight (Linnea Berthelsen), was introduced in season two of the sci-fi drama and was built up to be one of the most crucial characters in the tale.
When we finally met Kali, we discovered that she’d participated in the same kid studies as Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) at Hawkins Lab.
Unfortunately, Kali’s huge reveal was not well received by fans, with many slamming it for veering too far from the Stranger Things premise.
The Lost Sister, in which Eleven travels to Chicago, Illinois, momentarily leaving Hawkins behind just as the stakes become painfully high.
After then, Kali was never seen again, leading viewers to believe that the plot had been abandoned due to the bad feedback from fans.
Despite its contentious status in the Stranger Things fandom, the writers have hinted that she may return after all.
Stranger Writers, the show’s writers’ room Twitter account, recently asked viewers to re-watch season two before the huge forthcoming conclusion.
‘I do think season 2 is consistently underrated. Highly recommend a re-watch before season 5,’ the account teased, with Eight’s return already expected.
Fans feel that now that the series has revealed more of Hawkins Lab’s background, a reintroduction may be more successful.
The Lost Sister, Kali’s major episode, remains the lowest rated on IMDb, with an overall score of 6.1, 1.7 points lower than the next lowest.
If Eleven’s lost sister returns in the last act of the tale, the episode’s reputation may rise if Kali is crucial to defeating Vecna.
Stranger Things fans were ecstatic earlier this month when it was claimed that The Clash’s iconic track Should I Stay or Should I Go rescued Will.
‘‘[Did] Will survive so long in the Upside Down was because he kept singing Should I Stay or Should I Go?’, a Reddit user asked of season two.
‘Since Max’s music kept Vecna away, did Will’s song do the same for him?’
Stranger Things is available to stream on Netflix.
