In the wake of the emotionally taxing conclusion to the fourth season of Stranger Things, fans are left wondering how the narratives of their favourite characters may possibly come to an end.

Noah Schnapp has provided a tantalising tease about what lies ahead for Will Byers, even though there is still some time until season 5, which will signal the end of the fantastic science fiction drama. Season 5 will also be the final season of the show.

Will’s trip has been full with peril from the very beginning, when he was kidnapped and taken to the terrifying Upside Down. Since then, he has been through a lot.

Even though he was finally rescued by his mother Joyce Byers (played by Winona Ryder) and Hawkins chief of police Jim Hopper (played by David Harbour), he hasn’t exactly been the same since, and he still maintains a link to the animals that live in the parallel universe.

Will and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) didn’t have the best time in the most recent episodes at their new school in California. When they returned to their hometown of Hawkins, Will sensed a connection with Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), who turned out to be the main antagonist at the centre of his trauma.

Will, who was also recently reduced to tears as he tried to deal with the intense feelings he has for his close buddy Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) in private, what may possibly be in store for him in the future?

When asked about the fifth season by Forbes, Noah said: ‘I can just tell you that I’m very very excited for what’s to come.’

The 18-year-old continued: ‘I think they did a great job with Will’s character this season, and beautifully addressed everything they needed to. The way they closed the show is just perfect – the story started with Will, and it’ll end with Will.’

Our interpretation of this leads us to believe that Will’s dealings with the Upside Down are not yet complete.

Given that his alter ego in the Dungeons & Dragons universe is the mighty wizard Will the Wise, it is possible that he could generate his own Eleven-style powers in order to bring Vecna to his knees once and for all.

That certainly would be something to talk about.

The show’s creators, Ross and Matt Duffer, often known as the Duffer brothers, provided a sneak peek into how the conclusion of the series will play out in the month of November.

‘[Season] five, the way we see it, is kind of a culmination of all the seasons, so it’s got a little bit from each,’ Ross said.

‘I think that what we’re trying to do is go back to the beginning a little bit, in sort of the tone of one. But also scale-wise, it’s more aligned with what four is. So, hopefully, it’s got a little bit of everything.’

Stranger Things is available to watch on Netflix.
