Stranger Things fans are eagerly awaiting word about Season 5, which will signal the end of the iconic TV programme and bring the gang’s war against the evil Vecna to a close.
Meanwhile, those who can make it to London will be able to see a new play inspired by the show, and a first teaser has hinted at the drama and suspense that awaits.
Stranger Things: The First Shadow will follow several familiar characters, including younger versions of Hopper and Joyce (played in the series by David Harbour and Winona Ryder, respectively), as well as Henry Creel… who turned out to be Number One, aka the big bad Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower).
Following the release of the teaser, we took note of every Stranger Things clip that played on the TV screen, since the producers intimated that the play will ‘transport you right back to the beginning of the Stranger Things saga’ and’might hold the key to what happens next’.
So, how can the play, which dives into Hawkins’ background, possibly lead into the fifth and final season?
To be sure, we’ll have to wait and see… However, the teaser for The First Shadow extensively included old Mind Flayer footage.
Before his awful conclusion, global lover Eddie (Joseph Quinn) was shown fighting the demobats in the Upside Down, and many events shared by Hopper and Joyce were also shown on film.
Given that we’ll be seeing them in their earlier years, perhaps we’ll see how their relationship began before they eventually got together in season four?
Henry Creel appears at many points in his life, from when he was a youngster in his family’s household murdering his own mother to comforting Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) before revealing that he was truly Number One.
Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Steve (Joe Keery) appeared frequently, and given that they’ve formed one of the Stranger Things universe’s most cherished, unlikely friendships, all we can say is that the Duffer Brothers had better leave them both alone and happily living their lives in the fifth season.
Max (Sadie Sink) makes a few appearances in the teaser, notably when Vecna has her float above her brother Billy’s (Dacre Montgomery) grave when she is about to become his newest victim.
The teaser highlighted key scenes from all four seasons, including the mall brawl from season three and Eleven’s pop punk look from season two when she briefly ran away from the home she’d been living in with Hopper.
While Stranger Things fans are overjoyed that a new episode is on the way, some are disappointed that they may not be able to see the play in London.
‘What about all the people that can’t get to London to see the live show? Will we be able to see this live streamed or pay to stream it after so we can know this part of the story, which seems vital to understanding the entire thing?’ one person commented on Instagram.
‘Please bring the play to other locations or put it on Netflix! Not everyone can make it to London!!!!’ another wrote.
Stranger Things is available to watch on Netflix.
