Stranger Things’ creators have delivered a massive tease regarding season 5 – and we’re already quaking in our boots.
The season 4 conclusion of the blockbuster Netflix series left Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Will Byers (Noah Schnapp), and their friends dealing with the consequences of Vecna’s (Jamie Campbell Bower) destruction in Hawkins.
The fifth season will be the show’s final season, with the final batch of episodes sure to make fans cry all across the world.
The show’s creators, Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer (known as the Duffer Brothers), have been careful not to reveal too much about the last chapter of the plot… Yet, a significant hint has now been revealed.
A fresh tweet from the Stranger Things authors’ official Twitter account on Tuesday March 21 read: ‘Season 5 is as if season 1 and 4 had a kid. The infant was then injected with steroids.’
This juicy revelation has already ‘traumatised’ some followers, with one tweeting in reaction, ‘I’m very frightened.’
‘Am I supposed to feel ok after hearing this,’ someone else wrote, while another remarked: ‘Ok so what I’m hearing is Will Byers getting the screen time he deserves again but it being even more traumatising.’
Meanwhile, another fan questioned if it could mean the opposite for Will’s story, writing: ‘Not really sure what to make of this, but I pray it doesn’t mean Will gets no screentime AGAIN……’
If you remember back to season one, Will was essentially gone after going abducted in Hawkins, with his kidnapping kicking off a series of events.
Meanwhile, Season 4 saw the emergence of the devious Vecna, also known as Number One and born Henry Creel.
While the group believed they’d eliminated Vecna at the conclusion of season four, he managed to complete the four killings required to break the seams separating Hawkins and the Upside Down, implying that he still remains in some manner in the Stranger Things world.
Viewers are eager to see what will happen to Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink), who was last seen in a vegetative state after losing her eyesight and breaking her bones when Vecna attacked her.
Because Eleven was able to resurrect Max, there is discussion regarding what this may signify for both Eleven’s newfound powers and Max’s future.
In December last year, Noah hinted at how Will’s narrative will conclude, saying: ‘I can just tell you that I’m really very thrilled for what’s to come.
‘I think they did a great job with Will’s character this season, and beautifully addressed everything they needed to. The way they closed the show is just perfect – the story started with Will, and it’ll end with Will.’
Stranger Things is available to watch on Netflix.
