Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash are extremely scheduled and busy, which may need time away from the family home.
Their children profit from their father’s business excursions in a unique way, since the 41-year-old frequently returns to Pickle Cottage packed with gifts.
‘I think parent guilt is across the board – mums, dads, everyone. Joe really struggles going away for work,’ Stacey explained on the latest episode of her BBC series Sort Your Life Out.
‘His default to make himself feel better is to bring back gifts.’
Stacey, 33, finds this practise a little unpleasant, and she believes their children Rex, three, Rose, one, and infant Belle don’t care for it for long. Stacey has Zachary, 14, Leighton, 10, and Joe has Harry, 16, who all get gifts.
‘It’s a pain in the bum. There is nowhere to put this stuff. The kids will literally forget about it two weeks later.’
Stacey and her crew were assisting Tom and Clare, who had gotten overwhelmed by their messy house, in the episode.
Clare felt emotional within minutes of the show as she struggled to leave with possessions, but she was consoled by an understanding Stacey, and they finally reached a peaceful solution.
Stacey attended the National Television Awards earlier this week after the series was nominated in the Factual category.
They did not, however, win. Stacey and Joe had a great night and looked great on the red carpet.
In a true ‘She’s Barbie, He’s just Ken’ moment, Stacey wore a dress with pink tulle skirt and glitzy corset.
Sort Your Life Out airs every Thursday at 8pm on BBC One and is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
