Sky News viewer sneakily tricks Kay Burley into making rude remark live on-air

When TV hosts read out comments from viewers live on-air, there is always a danger.

Kay Burley’s current Sky News broadcast saw her receive a mail containing an exceedingly harsh statement… which she only discovered after she’d stated it aloud.

On Wednesday, the 62-year-old urged everyone watching the show to email in their comments on current news topics.

The presenter began publishing some of the remarks she’d received, telling them to contact her via Twitter at her account, @KayBurley.

One Suffolk resident believes that hybrid working is the “way forward,” while another asked if the pandemic was “officially over,” to which she replied that it is, according to the World Health Organisation, which declared Covid-19 a “established and ongoing health issue that no longer constitutes a public health emergency of international concern.”

She went on… which is when the section took a turn for the worst.

‘Who else? Peter Hodson. Do the staff shout “see you next Tuesday?”’ she said, reading his message.

Kay immediately cottoned onto what the viewer had done, stating: ‘That’s not funny, is it? It’s just not funny.

‘If you’ve been a fan of Sex and the City, you’ll know what that refers to.’

If you have no idea what Kay was talking about, the phrase ‘see you next Tuesday’ is a backronym for a swear word beginning with the letter ‘C’, with the word ‘see’ supposed to reflect the first letter of the word, followed by the remaining three letters.

We’ll just leave it at that.

Kay was part of the Sky presenting team for the King’s Coronation over the weekend, and she chatted with Dame Joanna Lumley, a regular acquaintance of King Charles and Queen Camilla.

When questioned how well she knew the royal couple, Dame Joanna claimed she knew them “well enough to stay with them” after previously clarifying statements that they were “close friends.”

‘Well we’ve stayed with them in various places,’ the Absolutely Fabulous star explained.

‘And it’s so normal and so friendly but so unbelievably welcoming and generous. Utterly thrilling.

‘At Sandringham, your car is taken away but by the time it’s brought back to you at the end of your trip or visit it’s full of petrol and it has been cleaned.’

In reaction, numerous viewers blasted the concept of celebrities being offered free benefits, with one tweeting: ‘To those that have, should more be given. Those that do not have… pay for it.’
