The popular BBC talk show The Chris and Rosie Ramsey Show has been cancelled after only two seasons, despite its recent elevation to primetime.
The show, hosted by Chris Ramsey and his wife Rosie, who are both 37, premiered on BBC Two in 2022.
It proved so popular with audiences and executives that it was promoted to BBC One after receiving high ratings.
The format involves the married comedians inviting other celebrity couples to the show for open discussion about life, love, and the pressures of fame and family.
Katherine Ryan and her husband Bobby Kootstra have already visited, as have Jack Whitehall and his father, Ronan Keating and his wife Storm, and Martin and Shirley Kemp.
It was expected to return for a third series, however those preparations have fallen through, resulting in the show being unceremoniously cancelled.
The Chris and Rosie Ramsey Show is sudden pause is due to the pair’s inability to find time to produce a third series.
An insider told The Sun: ‘The BBC absolutely love Chris and Rosie. They’re a hilariously entertaining duo, but most importantly, they’re real.
‘They want to continue producing The Chris and Rosie Ramsey Show for audiences but due to schedule clashes, they can’t make it work right now.
‘While the show has been paused for now, behind-the-scenes BBC are continuing to look at ways the show can continue with Avalon.’
The couple first met when they were 14 years old.
After attending the same college, they did not truly hit it off until chemistry struck at a local nightclub in 2012. They got married two years later, in 2014.
As Chris’s stand-up comedy career grew, the two co-founded Sh**ged Married Annoyed, a podcast where they discussed the ups and downs of marriage from a comic standpoint.
The podcast’s success prompted the team to go on Arena tours around the UK in 2021, as well as the launch of their BBC chat show.
The couple has two children together: Rosie, 10, and Rafe, 3. Unfortunately, Rosie had a terrible miscarriage when trying for their second child.
Speaking to Vicky Pattinson on the podcast The Secret To, Rosie said: ‘I found out at the 12-week scan that I’d actually lost the baby.
‘It’s called a blighted ovum which is a missed miscarriage… honestly, I don’t want to sound dramatic, but it was one of the worst things that have ever happened in my life.’
As of 2022, the couple are reported to share a net worth of £5-10million, according to The Mirror.
They share a £1.5 million property in a rural community near South Shields, where they were raised, with six bedrooms and a library.
