Shirley Ballas has been diagnosed with an ailment only days before the Strictly Come Dancing live events begin.
The current season of the BBC dance series premiered last week, with celebrities such as former Come dance host Angela Rippon, Love Island‘s Zara McDermott, and EastEnders star Bobby Brazier taking to the floor.
Judges Anton Du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Shirley Ballas all returned.
Shirley, 63, has now disclosed that she is now bedridden and battling illness ahead of the series’ first live episode on Saturday.
Shirley stated on social media that she had ‘caught something’ and was compelled to slow down and take a break in order to relax.
Shirley assured followers she was ‘not in work’ and was’resting’ ahead of the upcoming show, posting videos from her bed.
‘What a difference a day makes. So, back from Rome where it was busy – lots of people and then in the studio for the Royal Albert Hall International Championships,’ she began.
‘But yes, I think I have caught something.’
She continued: ‘So not very well today. Not in work, but I want to rest and make sure that I am ready for Strictly on Saturday.’
Looking for a distraction, she then asked supporters for air fryer tips before offering her love to anyone else who was feeling under the weather.
‘I’m sending loves and cuddles and am also feeling really excited about Saturday. Oh my gosh, wait until you see this show.
‘It is phenomenal and I think all of them will be staying until the final because they are all that good.’
Soon after Shirley posted another video saying she was ‘feeling poo poo’ but some boiled eggs, toast and a black tea made by her mum was helping her feel slightly better.
It’s been a hectic few weeks for the Strictly judge, who is also preparing to release her debut novel, Murder on the Dance Floor, in October.
Shirley said last month that several of the scenarios in her work were inspired by real-life occurrences that caused people’s jaws to “hit the ground.”
‘I’ve worked with a brilliant writer called Sheila McClure and we’ve covered it all – bullying, backstabbing, dancers having sex in broom cupboards – all these things that I’ve seen, heard or witnessed,’ she added when speaking to Good Housekeeping.
She continued: ‘Don’t be fooled into thinking the dance industry is all baubles, bangles and beads!’
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One and iPlayer.
