Season seven of Selling Sunset was just published on Netflix today, but a lot has happened at the Oppenheim Group since production wrapped.
The documentary spent a lot of time on Mary Fitzgerald’s pregnancy and painful miscarriage with husband Romain Bonnet.
We also witnessed the ongoing fight between Bre Tiesi and Chelsea Lazkani, as well as Jason Oppenheim’s ex-girlfriend, Marie-Lou Nurk, who felt slighted by Chrishell Stause, who later found herself in a feud with Amanza Smith.
It’s reasonable to say that the entire cast experienced a rollercoaster ride this season.
The new episodes, however, may be a little difficult watching for the Selling Sunset CEO, who parted with the model, 26, shortly after the cameras stopped running.
In a new interview, the 46-year-old spoke up about their current situation, saying that they are still in communication despite the break-up.
‘I care a lot about her and she’s doing great,’ he told E! News. ‘It’s not easy to go through this process. I mean, most of us have been around [the show] for a while.
‘For Lou, this is really new and I think that comes with a certain level of anxiety. So, I’m trying to calm those concerns. Sometimes that’s what our conversations are about. But we’re still good.’
The former couple started dating last year, following Jason’s relationship with Chrishell coming to an end in 2021.
When Marie-Lou made her Selling Sunset debut in season six, her 20-year age gap surprised members of the group.
The newbie didn’t do well in front of the cameras, and had an embarrassing run-in with Chrishell at a tense lunch – after she chastised the agency for not being nice to her.
She then contacted Jason and placed him on loudspeaker during their intense argument, and she questioned whether the exes still had feelings for each other, which made viewers uncomfortable.
In a discussion with DailyMail.com, the business mogul revealed that the series put a ‘strain’ on their romance.
‘I was cringing at a couple of scenes, including the luncheon because it was awkward and uncomfortable when it was actually happening in real life,’ he told the outlet.
‘I didn’t want to watch it! It reminded me how uncomfortable I was on the phone. I was just sitting there listening and I remember being uncomfortable in the moment.’
Spilling the beans on his love life after their split, he added: ‘I’m just enjoying taking a step back from dating.
‘I’m not eager to be back into a relationship or anything serious. I’m just enjoying my time right now. I’m genuinely happy. I’m not really dating.’
