Chrishell Stause is one of the central personalities in Selling Sunset, but she came close to quitting the Netflix series altogether in season 3.
The luxury real estate agent considered walking away from the show during her very public divorce from her ex-husband Justin Hartley, which took place right in the middle of filming.
This Is Us actor Justin filed for divorce in November 2019 after two years of marriage leaving Chrishell feeling ‘’blindsided’ after learning the news from a text.
Speaking on the latest episode of the Dear Media podcast Lipstick on the Rim, Chrishell admitted she ultimately decided to keep going on Selling Sunset to further her career.
‘The divorce was the most public and humiliating thing you could ever go through,’ she said. ‘I still had to film a reality show, it was carry on with that or quit and I wanted this new career so I stayed in the end.
‘I pushed through and I just had to be open and I think that is better than pretending everything is ok.
‘Therapy is an amazing tool. I didn’t have much control over how it went down so I had to look after myself.’
Justin and Chrishell had begun dating in January 2014, with Justin proposing to his future wife in July 2016.
The pair went on to wed the following year in October 2017.
Chrishell opened up about how she found out about the split during an episode of Selling Sunset in season three.
‘I thought we were totally fine,’ she said at the time. ‘We had an argument that morning [of a charity event] over the phone and I never saw him since, we didn’t talk things through.
‘Before we had the chance to figure things through, he filed.’
The Days Of Our Lives actress continued: ‘I just can’t believe everyone’s finding out when I’m finding out. I had literally no time, the people who were in our wedding found out through TMZ. That’s so disrespectful.
‘When I got home that night, everything was fine but we got into an argument. When I look back on it, part of me thinks he made a decision and I wasn’t given a say in this… he didn’t want to be talked out of it.’
Following her split from Justin, Chrishell went on to date her boss Jason Oppenheim and their romance is unveiled in Selling Sunset in season 5.
However, the couple are no longer dating after five months after confirming their relationship.
