Scarlette Douglas was ‘devastated’ when her neighbour died while she was filming I’m A Celebrity… I need to get out of here!
The 35-year-old star, who was the second celebrity to be booted off the ITV reality programme, spent some time in the jungle for the series and was devastated to learn that her 91-year-old neighbour Harry had died during her stay.
Scarlette opened up on Friday’s episode of Good Morning Britain as a stand-in for regular showbiz presenter Richard Arnold as part of the show’s One Million Minutes campaign.
The campaign encourages individuals to donate their time to various philanthropic organisations, and she indicated that after Harry’s death, she will be assisting Harry’s charity.
She said: ‘I’m absolutely going to pledge. It’s super important. I would like to pledge some minutes to my late neighbour Harry. He was 91 and passed away while I was in the jungle and I was devastated.
‘He lost his wife to Alzheimer’s unfortunately and he now has a charity. He has a charity now Singing Down Memory Lane.
‘They all get together every week to sing along and help those with Alzheimer’s… so I’m going to go sing along and donate my minutes.’
Scarlette also paid respect to late fashion icon Dame Vivienne Westwood on the programme, wearing a necklace from her label following the news that the legend died on Thursday at the age of 81.
She added: ‘This is for her. I have worn that.’
Scarlette has been filling in for Richard during the Christmas holidays, and previously admitted she was delighted to be part of the team.
‘I probably shouldn’t have told you just yet in case they decide they don’t want me anymore,’ Scarlette said while sharing the news on her Instagram page.
‘But yes, I am going to be covering for the legend that is Richard Arnold on GMB, the Entertainment section, Good Morning Britain.
Scarlette added that work has been flooding in over the past week following her return to the UK.
‘So I have my own segment on Lorraine now, I’m covering over Christmas for Richard Arnold on GMB, I’m going to have my own radio show on Heart for Christmas Eve,’ she exclaimed. ‘There is so much happening!’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV1.
