Mark “Billy” Billingham, star of SAS: Who Dares Wins, has said he believes former DS Ant Middleton will watch the next season.

Ant was fired from Channel 4 in 2021 for his “personal conduct,” which followed some contentious remarks he had made about the Covid-19 movement and the Black Lives Matter movement.

Rudy Reyes, a former United States Recon Marine, took his place. He will now work with Billy, Jason “Foxy” Fox, and new DS Chris Oliver as 20 recruits are tested in the difficult Vietnam jungle.

Ant has criticised the show’s producers in the past for transforming SAS: Who Dares Wins into a “reality show” with “sob stories” as opposed to the difficult trials he used to subject the celebrities to.

Before the conclusion of the previous season, Billy and Foxy asserted that they had not heard from Ant since he departed the programme.

Billy, though, is “certain” that he will watch the new show.

I’m sure he’ll be watching it, replied Billy. We all wish him the best.

I sincerely hope that he is succeeding and moving on to new endeavours.

Billy responded, “How fantastic it is, and wishes he was back with the squad,” when asked how he believes Ant will feel about the upcoming series.

For himself, “he’s onto larger and greater things.”

After a lengthy military career in which he served in the prestigious Special Boat Service alongside comrade DS Foxy, Chris spoke about joining the show.

Before quitting the service in 2015, the 40-year-old was sent on missions to Afghanistan, Iraq, Iraqi Kurdistan, Northern Ireland, Sierra Leone, and Oman.

Explaining how he will approach the show, he said: ‘I will bring a hard-hitting intensity to the SAS: Who Dares Wins DS, being a fiery character with a very passionate approach to military training, with respect being at the forefront of everything I do.

‘The values I intend to instill in the recruits, as part of the DS, have been forged on operations where we have lost good operators, so they had better be under no illusions – anyone who doesn’t play by the rules will pay the price.’

SAS: Who Dares Wins returns to Channel 4 on Monday, January 23 at 9pm.
